Experiment platforms

Machines and compilers tested

The following testbeds were used:

  • An x86 Skylake Xeon Platinum 8170 node (52 cores) with the GNU gfortran (13.2), Intel ifx (2024.2) and ifort (2024.2) compilers.
  • An ARM Neoverse N1 ALTRA Q80-30 CALMIP node (80 cores) with the GNU gfortran (12.2) and ACfL armfortran (23.10) compilers.
  • An ARM Neoverse V1 G3E AWS node (64 cores) with the GNU gfortran (12.2) and ACfL armfortran (23.04) compilers
  • An ARM Neoverse V2 G4 AWS node (96 cores) with the GNU gfortran (14.2) and ACfL armfortran (24.10) compilers.
  • An ARM Neoverse V2 Grace Super Chip node (72 cores) with the NVIDIA nvfortran (24.5-1), GNU gfortran (11.4) and ACfL armfortran (24.04) compilers.

Testing on RISC-V machines is postponed until we have proper support for vector extensions in Fortran with the RVV 1.0 toolchain.
